⏳ Boost music sales by building a fan profile with ChatGPT for FREE
Big companies research their audience. So should you.

Good day,
Hope you're hitting the right notes today!
Chris from the AI Musicpreneur checking in.
Ever asked an AI about its favorite music genre?
It said, "I'm into heavy metal... circuits!"
Did that one strike a chord better than last week's? 🙈
I promise, I'm not "wired" to give up on these jokes.
Today we’ll discuss:
Define your fan profile with the “Proto persona” strategy using ChatGPT
AI Tutorial of the week: Create a music video with Midjourney + RunwayML
The BIGGEST AI music stories: The AI Musicpreneur Mag #Issue 1 is here.
Let’s dive in!
Here are 5 reasons why you need to identify your fan target audience
Guided musical evolution: Understanding your fans' preferences empowers you to evolve musically while remaining relevant to your core audience.
Strategic career decisions: Knowledge of your audience's habits and tastes influences where to advertise, perform, and invest time.
Deepened fan engagement: By tailoring your content to what your fans love, you cultivate stronger connections and long-lasting loyalty.
Effective resource allocation: Recognizing where your fans congregate, be it online or offline, ensures you optimize budget spend for maximum reach.
Informed collaboration choices: Knowing your audience's other musical preferences can guide partnerships, ensuring collaborations resonate with existing fans.
Define your fan profile with the “Proto persona” strategy
Big companies research their audience.
So should you.
Understanding your audience is vital.
But often, specific user data is limited or unavailable.
Looking at you Spotify. 👀
A proto persona fills this gap by offering:
Guided assumptions: It's a semi-fictional representation of your target audience, built on educated guesses and preliminary research.
Flexibility: As more concrete data becomes available, proto personas can be iteratively refined, ensuring they evolve with genuine insights.
Efficiency: They allow businesses or creators to start with audience-centric strategies without waiting for exhaustive research.
In essence, a proto persona lays the groundwork for user-centered decision-making.
2 simple examples:
Do they love vinyl? —> Sell vinyl records.
Do they frequent coffee shops? —> Perform at local cafes.
Go where your audience is.
Restrictive platform data limits artists.
ChatGPT empowers them.
Construct a comprehensive fan profile.
Piece together the audience puzzle.
By deeply understanding audience preferences,
You can provide them tailored experiences.
The “Proto Persona” prompt:

Open a new Chat in ChatGPT.
Use the “Model GPT-4” if possible.
Copy the prompt & fill the brackets with your input.
Artist Bio:
[Please input a brief bio of your musical journey, style, and any distinctive characteristics of your music.]
Demographic Data:

Interest-based Data:
[List any specific interests or hobbies that resonate with your audience or that you've observed among your fans, e.g., vinyl record collecting, vintage fashion, attending music festivals, etc.]
Using the information provided, craft a detailed proto persona for my ideal fan, capturing their potential habits, preferences, pain points, motivations, lifestyle choices and jobs to be done (tasks, gains) that align with my music.
Please use the following template for the proto persona. This template should be filled out based on the "artist bio", the "demographic data" and the "Interest-based data".
Here is the template:
Profile Picture: A fictional image to give a face to the persona. This helps in making the persona relatable.
Name: A fictional name for easy reference.
Demographics:
Age
Gender
Occupation
Education
Marital status
Income range
Geographical location
Description (or Background):
Brief biography or background story to contextualize their habits and preferences.
Lifestyle: e.g., urban city dweller, suburban parent, rural retiree, etc.
Pain Points:

Barriers or obstacles to achieving their goals.
Gains:
Desired solutions or outcomes.
What they hope to achieve or the value they seek.
Motivations:
Intrinsic (personal desires or drives) and extrinsic (external rewards or recognition) motivations.
What drives their decisions or actions.
Tasks:
The main activities they would engage in relevant to the product/service.
Potential interactions they might have.
Goals & Aspirations:
Short-term and long-term objectives.
What they hope to accomplish in relation to the product/service.
Preferred Channels of Communication:
How they prefer to receive information or communicate (e.g., email, social media, in-person, etc.).
Technology Use:
Devices they commonly use (smartphone, laptop, tablet, etc.).

Remember, while proto personas are based on educated assumptions rather than actual user research, they can still serve as a useful starting point in the absence of real user data. They should be refined and validated through actual user research as soon as possible.
